Official Opening - Caritas Australia WYD08 Multi-Media Exhibition...Customs House, Circular Quay, Sydney - 14th July

"Blueprint for a better world - The Millennium Development Goals and You "

CEO of Caritas Australia Jack de Groot welcomed guests and spoke of the global plan to tackle poverty and improve infant and maternal health in the world's poorest areas.

Special guest was Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga, S.D.B. President of Caritas Internationalis. His Eminence is a staunch defender of human rights and a powerful voice in the global fight against poverty.

The multi - media exhibition highlights the realities and development challenges in the world today, as well as what Caritas Australia and its partners are doing to meet these challenges. It is a call for action and a reminder that all of us can make a difference.

In the forecourt of Custom's House a joyful celebration of song and dance was performed by WYD pilgrims from Tonga ... just fabulous to see these young people in their traditional dress celebrate being part of this world extravaganza!
